Mastercard Crypto Credential allows you to use a unique, easy-to-remember username (also known as an alias) instead of a long blockchain wallet address when sending or receiving cryptocurrency.
For example, instead of sharing a wallet address like:
0x7F5A3E9B...
you can use a human-readable alias, such as:
alice.mcc.mastercard
This makes crypto transfers simpler and helps reduce the risk of errors when entering wallet addresses.
How does it work?
Your Mastercard Crypto Credential alias is securely linked to your eligible blockchain wallet.
When someone sends cryptocurrency using your alias, the system automatically resolves it to your linked wallet address, so there's no need to copy and paste long strings of characters.
Requirements
To use Mastercard Crypto Credential, you must:
- Complete identity verification (KYC).
- Link an eligible blockchain wallet to your account.
Important information
- You can have only one Mastercard Crypto Credential alias per account.
- You can unlink your alias at any time.
- Mastercard Crypto Credential currently supports Polygon wallets only. Although other blockchain networks may appear when adding a wallet, the alias functionality is currently available only for wallets on the Polygon network.
