Have you encountered the error message 'Unable to bind card' when you attempt to add your bank card as a payment method? If so, then you're in the right place!
There are several different reasons why this error may occur, which we will list below, to help you identify what could be going wrong:
Card Balance Requirement
When you add a new card to your Mercuryo wallet, we check your card using a €1 pre-authorisation charge (or equivalent in your currency) to verify that your card details are valid. Normally, this returns to your account within a few minutes after the card verification. Please ensure that your card has a balance of at least €1 before trying to add it as a payment method.
Supported Card Types
Mercuryo only accepts Visa, Mastercard and Maestro cards at the moment. If you are trying to add any other type of bank card, then it will not be successful.
Bank Approval Required
Your bank could be blocking the transaction, so you may need to contact your bank to seek approval for the transaction(s) that you are attempting to make. Some banks aren't very crypto-friendly, or have additional security measures in place. It's always best to check this first with your bank.
3D Secure Authentication
Verify that you have completed the 3D Secure Authentication process with your bank. This additional security layer may require you to enter a code provided by your bank to proceed.
Account Card Limit
Mercuryo allows a maximum of 4 different bank cards to be used on each account. If you are trying to use a 5th bank card on your account, then you may encounter this error.
