In most cases, no.
Once your cryptocurrency transaction has been executed and a blockchain transaction hash (TxID) has been generated, it cannot be cancelled, modified, or reversed.
This is because cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible by design.
Why can't cryptocurrency transactions be cancelled?
Cryptocurrency transactions work differently from traditional bank transfers or card payments.
When you send cryptocurrency, the transaction is broadcast to the blockchain—a decentralised network that records every transaction in a permanent public ledger.
Once your transaction is:
- Signed and submitted to the blockchain network.
- Verified by network participants.
- Confirmed and added to a block.
…it becomes a permanent part of the blockchain.
Each new block is securely linked to the previous one using cryptography. This design makes the blockchain highly secure and prevents confirmed transactions from being altered, deleted, or reversed.
Unlike a bank, there is no central authority that can stop or cancel a blockchain transaction once it has been confirmed.
Why can't Mercuryo cancel it?
Mercuryo processes cryptocurrency purchases instantly once your payment has been approved.
After the transaction has been been broadcast to the blockchain, we no longer have the ability to cancel, reverse, or modify it.
Before confirming your purchase
Please make sure to check:
- The wallet address.
- The selected blockchain network.
- The cryptocurrency you're purchasing.
- The transaction amount.
Once a cryptocurrency transaction has been confirmed on the blockchain, it is final and irreversible.
If you've just verified your account, or been asked, and your transaction is processing this is a temporary status. You have 30 minutes to complete verification, otherwise the transaction is automatically reversed and Mercuryo won't charge you for it.
